Over the last month, I have delivered 152 MTM member dividend checks. As you can imagine, I have seen many interesting shops, met great people and each delivery has a story. From those visits, there were a few that I would like to share. Let me tell you about one. Mollertech, LLC.

They have been an MTM member since 2009. This is a family-owned organization from Dr. Von Moller and is a seventh-generation company with plants all over the world and three in the United States. The Michigan plant opened in 1998 and last summer they celebrated their 20th anniversary. They employ 75 individuals that make interior plastic parts for a variety of automakers. The parts include back panels, pillar covers, consoles, door moldings, anything on the interior of an automobile is something they likely touched.

When I dropped off the check to the VP of Operations, Kristine Nowowiecki, I found I was speaking with the first employee of this Michigan facility. After chatting with her for a while, I took a tour and was joined by the MTM Loss Control Manager, Ruth Kiefer. During the tour, the first thing that I noticed was the plant’s impeccable organization and cleanliness. Also, I was surprised to see the number of status boards around the production floor. Employees are actively engaged in suggesting and implementing efficiencies where the management works on prioritizing problem-solving and producing the best product.

When listening to our Loss Control Manager during our visit to Mollertech, I found Kristine was most attentive and anxious to make sure that cutting-edge work safety protocols were being followed. It should be no surprise that interest and focus has translated into an outstanding safety record. As I was getting ready to leave, I noticed another item that shows up in some of our plants, and that is a seniority wall. A display in the plant that features the names and photos of workers that have been with the company for five, ten, and fifteen years. The board wall was quite full of long-term employees.

It was a pleasure getting to know Kristine better and seeing her operation. During my dividend rounds, I often say this is the best part of my job. Delivering dividend checks to MTM members is always a fun encounter, but it also sometimes turns into an interesting and educational tour for me. That was the case during my Mollertech visit. My congratulations to the Mollertech team and wish for their continued success.
